With ReelBox Avantgarde enthusiasts receive a fully versatile stand alone Home Entertainment System at the cutting edge of multimedia technology. The modular design not only allows you to upgrade the Operating System and Tuners, but also internal components such as the CPU if required giving you long term reassurance in your investment.

The ReelBox Avantgarde can be supplied with up to six DVB-S Tuners, Gigabit Network, data streaming via HDMI, 320GB (Or larger) Hard Disk capacity, Dual Layer DVD Burner and a fast USB 2.0 connection. This is all contained in an award winning designer casing, providing a groundbreaking product, ensuring this top of the range Media Centre satisfies the most demanding requirements.

Modern components based on energy efficient notebook technology provide the platform for a performance rich Media Centre. Through multimedia hardware developed by Reel, the ReelBox Avantgarde provides comprehensive HDTV Playback and Record functionality. Even memory intensive applications such as data conversion from film are made easy and when future developments require, it will be easy to upgrade the CPU accordingly.

The ReelBox presents HD content in stunning quality. Both the digital HDMI and analogue YUV connections ensure the best signal quality to any Playback media, thereby making it irrelevant from which source the intuitive data is derived whether via the DVB-S2 Tuner, the Hard Disk, or over the network. Powerful flexibility built into the Playback media allows Standard-PAL to be upgraded to cater for LCD, Plasma TV, or HD Burner, ensuring value for money.

Two common interface ports fitted on the Netceiver cater for Pay TV subscription. Smartcards provided by Pay TV suppliers allow you to receive, and in most cases subscribe to numerous Premium Channels.

As a multimedia console the ReelBox Avantgarde is compatible with all current data formats. It is now finally possible to play all your media through one unit. MP3 and Audio CD functionality provide the quality sound. Video formatting provided by XVid, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, in Standard and HD (up to 1080i) formats guarantees continuous compatibility. Use the inbuilt DVD burner to archive your TV recordings and produce your own Video DVD in compliance with current standards.

The built in Hard Disk recording system and the integrated electronic television guide (EPG) frees you from previous programming restrictions. The user friendly automated Search-Timer function allows you to navigate through your channels looking for relevant programmes. In this way it is easy to find all programmes from a specific series or those based upon a certain theme and save them to Hard Disk in broadcast quality and with accompanying soundtracks. Advertisements can be automatically removed after recording if so desired. In this way you can keep your personal film archive up to date, enjoying your favourite films without advertising and at a time of your choosing, selective television a la carte.

By harnessing the power of Linux an Open Source operating system, the ReelBox Avantgarde can be used as an everyday PC by simply adding a wireless mouse and keyboard and enjoying everyday tasks from the comfort of your arm chair.

With Ubuntu you can surf the web, read email, create documents and spreadsheets, edit images, play games and much more.

With applications such as OpenOffice you have an inbuilt Word processor, Spreadsheet and Presentation suite built directly into your ReelBox Avantgarde.

OpenOffice - A complete productivity suite

Word Processor has everything you would expect from a modern, fully equipped word processor or desktop publisher. It is simple enough for a quick memo, powerful enough to create complete books with contents, diagrams, indexes, etc. You are free to concentrate on your message - while Word Processor makes it look great. The Wizards feature takes all the hassle out of producing standard documents such as letters, faxes, agendas, minutes, or carrying out more complex tasks such as mail merges.

Spreadsheet is the program you have always wanted. Newcomers find it intuitive and easy to learn; professional data miners and number crunchers will appreciate the comprehensive range of advanced functions. Of course, you are free to use your old Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, or save your work in Excel format for sending to people who still use Microsoft products. If all they want to see is your results, then use Portable Document Format (.pdf) - there is no need to buy any extra software.

Presentation is an outstanding tool for creating effective multimedia presentations. Easy editing and uploading of photos

F-spot enables you to import your photos from your hard drive, camera (including PTP type), or iPod, and supports 16 common files types, including JPEG, GIF, TIFF, RAW. Your photos can be tagged for searching and grouping. Other features include full screen and slideshow modes.

Editing photos in F-Spot is a breeze. Easily rotate, crop, resize, and adjust red eye and other colour settings with a few simple clicks and versioning ensure your originals are never altered. You can also enter descriptions of photos that are saved in the actual file so other people and programs will be able to see them, whether they use F-Spot or not.

Netceiver

Multi Tuner Solution with Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity

The Netceiver design includes three tuner slots for DVB-Satellite, DVB-Satellite2, DVB-Cable, and DVB-Terrestrial. This gives you all the flexibility you need by allowing you to freely interchange between the different formats tuners of DVB-S, S2, C and T as and when you need to or even a mix of all three! In using three Reel Tuner Cards for DVB-S you have six independent Tuners at your disposal. Programmes from six satellite transponders can be received and transmitted over the network via your ReelBox.

The Reel DVB-S2 Tuner is fully HD compatible, providing all the hardware needed for HD decoding and is ready for future requirements. The Netceiver is connected to the ReelBox main circuit board via Gigabit Ethernet, providing enough bandwidth to receive many HD data streams simultaneously. Manufacturers and customers are benefiting more than ever before from revolutionary advances provided by Gigabit Ethernet technology: Through the use of professional network technology, incompatibilities which have frequently restricted the use of USB technology are avoided. The limitations provided by five metre USB cabling are avoided.

Considering the growing number of encryption systems, used by an increasing number of suppliers to protect their premium channels, comprehensive Common Interface provision is now inevitable. In addition to the two Common Interface slots catering for CI Modules handling PAY TV decoding, a third one can be added. The design also caters for two additional Smartcard readers.

The Netceiver circuit board provides one additional PCI slot, one connection in series and one P-ATA-controller to cater for additional Peripherals and Mass Storage devices.

For those who are keen to make the most of the growing PAY TV sector a third CI slot is available on request, in addition to the two available Smartcard Readers.

ReelBox Avantgarde

The technical exclusivity of the product is reflected in the quality casing design available in black or silver lacquer. The basic model comes with a 320GB Hard Disk, one slot in DVD burner as well as two digital Tuners according to preference (DVB-S2, DVB-C or DVB-T) therefore the available DVB components can be easily configured. In total the ReelBox Avantgarde provides more than three tuner slots with the inclusion of Dual Tuner models through which up to six individual DVB-S tuners can be running in one unit. Thereby many more programmes via a variety of transponders can be simultaneously recorded or distributed across the network. Given the previous limited HD content available, the ability for the ReelBox Avantgarde to be compatible with all available DVB formats provides competitive advantage over those products with fixed tuner capability. Such is the nature of the continued growth of HDTV that the ReelBox has been provided with the capability for up to three DVB tuners. The interface provision on the ReelBox Avantgarde is second to none, picture distribution can be provided via HDMI, SCART or YUV (analogue) connections, the quality Surround Audio sound is provided by Coaxial or optical cabling. Hassle free PAY TV reception is provided by up to three Common Interface slots (two installed, with one additional internal CI optional). Extremely fast network connections via Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, FireWire, and eSATA capability ensure cutting edge connectivity, presenting a unitary solution by providing all relevant multimedia interfaces and standards. The ReelBox Avantgarde is equally at home as a home entertainment or IT solution.
